About Sichuan Agricultural University
Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU), founded in 1906, is identified as a key comprehensive university under the National Project 211 in China. With a predominance of bio-technology and agricultural sciences, SAU has a multi-disciplinary development in agriculture, science, engineering, economy, management, medicine, liberal arts, law, education and arts. According to the statistics by Ministry of Education of China in 2012, the following first-level disciplines are among the national top 10: landscape architecture, crop science, animal science, forestry, grassland science, and veterinary science.
The university has 3 campuses, located in Ya’an, in Chengdu and in Dujiangyan respectively. SAU has 22 colleges and 12 research institutes and offers 84 undergraduate programs, 76 graduate programs, 53 doctorate programs and 7 post-doctoral working-stations. Today SAU has 3190 full-time faculties, of whom 306 are professors and 521 are associate professors, along with 209 doctoral supervisors and 509 master’s supervisors. The University has now over 37,000 students, including 32,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students.
All the educational programs are open to international students. Besides some specialized programs are instructed in English, most of the programs are offered in Chinese or bilingually in Chinese and English. SAU has international students at different levels from more than 16 countries in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
